PETG Plastic Sheet

PETG plastic (polyethylene teraphthalate glycol) is the main material we use for stencils, and is a great material for laser cutting as cuts cleanly. It is very impact resistant and not brittle (it bends for the most part until you get into thicknesses past 1/16″) as well as fairly chemically inert so you can clean it pretty easily with solvents which makes it a great choice for stencils. It is also a food-grade material meaning it won’t leach things into any food or beverage it contains (it is what milk jugs are made of among other things). You can cut .02″ and .04″ PETG plastic with scissors (maybe .06″ if you are a hero) but they can all be trimmed down with an x-acto blade. It scratches easily so if appearance is important such as for windows in an architectural model it is best to leave the plastic mask on both sides when cutting or scoring it. Scored PETG plastic can be folded into packaging in a similar way to thin cardboard.
